Our Cabalen in Pampanga need your help!

Because of the nonstop rain, floodwaters breached the Tail Dike causing a rapid rise in water levels. Families are stranded in their homes, with no electricity and running out of food and drinking water.

You can help by donating canned goods, noodles, bottled water, bread, crackers, clothes and blankets at Sam’s Food Mart (2F San Agustin Mall) near St. Scholastica’s Academy, Pampanga.

You can also volunteer to repack goods on August 10-11 (Fri-Sat), starting at 1pm, and distribute the goods on August 12 (Sat) to families affected by flood in Sto. Tomas (San Matias, San Bartolome and Poblacion) and Minalin (San Nicolas).

Rhythm-in-Blue: Diwang Pinoy poster and logo mock-ups

Look what I found! It’s the mock-ups I made while I was under the tutelage of Dan for promotions around four years ago. She challenged everyone in the creatives and promotions committees to come up with posters for that year’s RiB. We can make a new logo for RiB if we wanted to. It was a little competition among the members for the best design. Via and Theia won, thus their design was the one that came into print.

These are just bits and pieces of what I submitted then. I’m a bit embarrassed to show the final product, because it was really mediocre. It really reflected how much I needed to learn more about design then. But then again, seeing errors on my past projects can only mean I’ve made progress and I’ve learned new things. I hope in the next five years, when I rummage through the works I do now, I’ll have the same reaction.

Disclaimer: I do not own the photos. They are by the great Aaron Vicencio.

Did you know that the most expensive coffee in the world is made from the waste of a civet native to the Philippines? I didn’t know that either, until I read this book!

Mukha ng Pera is a thesis project that aims to use money and its symbols to teach history to public school students. It makes use of money—something we see every day but often overlooked of its other purpose: reminding the Filipino people of their history and heritage.

Mukha ng Pera is a book filled with fun trivia, cute illustrations, and even slots, where you can slip real bills to see the significance of the symbols printed on it! The whole book is researched, compiled and designed by the child-at-heart (and my “daughter”) Noni! Please vote for her work by liking the post on Facebook and sharing it with your friends!

Hey guys please vote for my girlfriend (if you deem her worthy)! She’s a finalist at this year’s Philippine Graphic Design Awards!

It’s a friggin textbook researched, compiled, branded, designed, illustrated and laid out by one person! A friggin textbook! Socially relevant and aesthetically pleasing, what more can you ask for!?

Yeah, it’s a textbook that aims to teach children about histories behind the imagery found on the mundane, everyday thing we call money. It’s got facts, activities, fun related stories (ala-Ambeth Ocampo) and even pages with slots you can put your money in and it aligns to trivia!

I have other friends who are finalists too so check them out!

Reese’s DIY or Die is a creative book of engaging people into arts!

Sev’s Drumocracy is a cool, fun and effective way to learn drumming! I should know, an afternoon with it and i’m already kicking beats…kinda!

and Tata-of-all-Trade’s Barangay Bahagi! A project that encourages people to share and bring light to local problems and issues through the use of photography and an easy to use website!

I’m the girlfriend.

I’m the mother of the author. Hihihihi <3
